Raft Types 02
Floating Restaurant
Restaurant rafts host many customers at once, so the load changes constantly and can gather on one side. Buoyancy must be sized for a full house.
Highlights
- Dining deck, kitchen and toilets laid out to suit the restaurant
- Connected to shore by a floating walkway or landing
- Double-welded AWS-standard pontoons for continuous daily use
Pontoon considerations
- If the number of customers isn't given, the calculator assumes 1 person per m² — a fully occupied deck
- Kitchens carry heavy equipment — stoves, fridges, gas and water tanks — which should be declared as extra load
- People tend to gather at the view side; engineers check buoyancy distribution so the raft doesn't list
Calculation values for this raft type
| Usable pontoon buoyancy | 50% |
|---|---|
| Raft deck weight (approx.) | 180 kg/m² |
| Weight per person (incl. belongings) | 90 kg |
| If people not specified | Assume 1 person / m² |
These values are for preliminary estimates. Our engineers verify and design for actual site conditions.
